Just because it is laid out to take 12 months doesn’t mean it will take you that long to accomplish a great standard of playing. For complete beginners it is highly advisable to spend the required amount of time on the beginner’s book as this sets you up with the knowledge and skills to improve quicker.

The beginner’s book is 165 pages long and covers a lot of the history of the piano, techniques for learning the scales and where to place your fingers. It also covers melody and rhythm which is essential to understand to become an accomplished pianist.

The second book in the series is the intermediate book. It is much shorter at only 65 pages, but this is because it does not have to cover the basics and can get straight into the intermediate knowledge and lessons. It builds up on the basic knowledge and skills from the beginner’s book and takes melody and rhythm skills to a higher level. You will also learn about more complete chords and more detailed rhythms and harmonies as well as learning how to read a piece of music.

The final book in the Rocket Piano series is the advanced book. This is obviously aimed at pianists who want to really hone their skills and play a professional level. The focus is pretty much on learning new techniques and improving older techniques so you are able to play at a professional level consistently. The advanced skills are laid out in step by step fashion so they are easy to follow and easy to learn.

There are other eBooks included within the course that focus on styles rather than general piano playing skills. However, there are 26 Jam tracks included so you can play along and practice new skills as you pick them up. This helps break up things and brings a bit more fun into learning how to play the piano.

I also found the video demonstrations great value as it meant I could see things rather than just reading about them. In total there are 57 instructional videos available that help teach you exactly how to do things. I would still advise reading each of the three books as watching the videos alone may mean you miss out on some basic skills or knowledge.

The custom sounds were created in-house by the developers and therefore won’t have any copyright issues if you produce something and sell it commercially. Other software may have similar collections freely available to use in productions or may have conditions attached to their use. You would have to read through the small detail to clarify if there were any use restrictions on other kits.

The lightweight audio engine in Cyber Sequencer means less lag or latency issues compared to some other older software. If your system is modern it will have no problems running the software. However, if you have problems with running the software it is worth checking what other programs are currently running on your machine. Most people tend to have a few things running in the background that take up memory or processing power that can easily be closed without causing any problems.

Cyber Sequencer makes it easy to master beat making with a couple of clicks of a mouse. The main panel has 16 tracks capable of 10 drum pads per track available to work with. Volume settings can be saved for each project in the source file so switching between projects doesn’t mean having to adjust settings. This definitely makes it easier to stay consistent on tracks and helps make any production more efficient.

Even though this Cyber Sequencer review has been positive so far it has not even mentioned the bonus material included. The 12 premium VOX kits included at the time of the post come at no extra charge. However, this doesn’t mean the premium kits will always be included. It does mention that each kit would cost $30 if sold separately and this could be a downside in future. At this time, with the premium kits included, Cyber Sequencer is definitely worth considering. The standard features are comparable to market leading options, it is available for both PC and MAC, it has production quality sound and there is plenty of training material available to get you up to speed quickly.
